Petala Tray by Shahril Faisal Design
Shahril Faisal was born in Kuala Lumpur in 1983. A graduate in industrial design from the Universiti Teknologi Malaysia, he founded SHAHRIL FAISAL Design in 2014. Originally based in Delft in the Netherlands, the studio relocated in 2018 to Kuala Lumpur, where Shahril worked with three emerging brands on their furniture collections. The studio also designs, builds and supplies furniture sets for numerous cafés and hotels. Shahril is a multi-award-winning designer. In 2018, he won the Japan Good Design Award for his Essimetri series for Nokta, while in 2019 he came first in the Elite Design Awards in Switzerland. Shahril’s works have been exhibited in furniture fairs, art installations and galleries in Kuala Lumpur, Milan, Paris, Tokyo, Shanghai, Taipei, Singapore and Melbourne, and have featured in renowned publications such as CULT Magazine in Australia, Canadian Interiors, ELLE DECOR India, Going Places by Malaysia Airlines, and the Volkskrant in the Netherlands. Shahril has also worked as a guest lecturer in several Malaysian universities and colleges, and as a guest speaker at numerous events across Asia.
