Outdoor chair by Jarrod Lim Design
Jarrod Lim grew up with a wide diversity of cultural influences. Born to a Singaporean father and Australian mother, he was raised in Melbourne, where he trained in industrial design. After graduation, he moved to Milan to work with Patricia Urquiola, one of the most sought-after designers in the world. He then worked for SCP, one of the UK’s top design and furniture manufacturers, before returning to Melbourne, where he had a brief stint as a design lecturer. In 2007, Jarrod moved to Singapore, where he continued to build on his European experience while allowing himself to be influenced by his new surroundings. In particular, local manufacturing allowed him to initiate self-directed projects that have now been licensed to many well-known international clients, creating opportunities to explore the potential of mass production for a global audience. Jarrod continues to search for new and interesting projects with clients that are open to fresh thinking and looking for innovative solutions balancing the purely aesthetic with the technical.
